About Vitalik Buterin

Vitalik Buterin is a Russian-Canadian programmer, writer and philanthropist. He co-founded Bitcoin Magazine in 2012 and the Ethereum blockchain project in 2015, which has grown to become the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. In 2018, he was granted an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Basel for his relentless work in the blockchain space and his effort to develop the ecosystem.

In 2018, Vitalik donated $2.4 million worth of ether to the SENS Research Foundation, which develops solutions for health issues associated with aging. In 2021, Vitalik proceeds with this support of the longevity industry by donating 336 million to Methuselah Foundation.
