Modulating RNA splicing to rejuvenate aged cells

SENISCA is working on a method to reverse cellular senescence through modulating RNA splicing back to levels seen in youth. Its aim is not to remove senescent cells as through senolytics; instead, it seeks to restore these cells back to a youthful state. Oligonucleotide-based therapeutic approaches will be used to reset splicing factor levels and thereby reverse senescence.

SENSICA has secured 1.3 million pounds sterling in seed funding for further development of its approach as well as a 240,000 pound sterling grant from Innovate UK to pursue anti-aging cosmeceuticals.
