Organization Description
TA-65 is a reputed telomerase activator created by TA Sciences.
It is based on a molecule extracted from Astragalus membranaceus, a perennial plant. It is native to nothern China, Mongolia, and Korea. The root is the medicinal part of the plant, and is usually harvested from 4-year-old plants. It has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years. Astragaus is known as an adaptogen, these substances allegedly help our bodies to reduce stress and recover after a stressful situation.
In a recent randomized controlled trial activation of telomerase by TA-65 enhanced immunity and reduced inflammation post myocardial infarction.
TA-65 is marketed as an oral supplement but it has not been approved by the FDA. The efficacy of TA-65 as an activator of telomerase is questionable and the compound and company have had lawsuits and other problems over questionable marketing.
While the majority of these legal issues happened around 2012, the scientific evidence to support its use in the context of aging is weak, we recommend being cautious.
