AthenaDAO

Organization Description

AthenaDAO is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that aims to support and empower women in the blockchain and cryptocurrency industry.

A decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is an organization that operates through smart contracts on a blockchain. It is designed to be autonomous, meaning that it can function without the need for a central authority or intermediaries. DAOs are governed by a set of rules and protocols that are encoded in the smart contracts, and decisions are made through voting or consensus mechanisms. DAOs aim to create a more transparent, efficient, and decentralized way of organizing and making decisions.

AthenaDAO provides a platform for women to collaborate, share knowledge, and participate in decision-making processes related to blockchain technology. The goal of AthenaDAO is to create a more inclusive and diverse ecosystem within the blockchain space with a focus on female aging research.

AthenaDAO is a community hub for women, focusing on education, access to resources and incentives that benefit them directly. They create opportunities to interact with the scientific community and like-minded women, to influence what research is addressed, and generate value from their contribution.

Their research focus is Ovarian Aging, Menopause, Endometriosis & Uterine Fibroids, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Fertility. They are also supporting the development of biomarkers for all of these previously mentioned conditions.

Reproductive aging and fertility is a fairly neglected area of research and organizations like AthenaDAO are helping to draw focus to it. Research that can lead to rejuvenation of the reproductive system also has potential utility in other organs and tissues and is thus important in the wider context of aging research. It is also worth noting that there are significant gender differences in how male and females of given species age, the research supported by AthenaDAO could also help to shed light on why these differences exist.
