About Ryan Bethencourt

Ryan Bethencourt prides himself on disrupting the current status quo in both medical and consumer biotech. He heads up Life Sciences at the XPRIZE Foundation, tasked with the development of Life Science XPRIZE’s which drive radical breakthroughs. Ryan is also the Co-Founder and CEO of Berkeley Biolabs, a biotech accelerator and the co-founder of Sudo Room and Counter Culture Labs (where he still retains a board seat). Over the last decade, Ryan has worked in the biopharmaceutical industry to develop novel drugs from first IND submission to FDA approval with many major biopharma’s including Pfizer, AZ, J&J, Sanofi, Takeda, Amgen, Genentech and other companies in the US, EU and Japan. He’s also served as COO at Genescient Pharmaceuticals and CEO of Halpin Neurosciences. Ryan’s work has been featured in Techcrunch, Forbes, The Financial Times, Nature, The San Francisco Business times and he regularly speaks on biotech innovation. Ryan received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science and Genetics from Warwick University and a Master’s from Cambridge University in Bioscience Enterprise.
