About Amutha Boominathan, Ph.D.

Dr. Amutha Boominathan is a Senior Principal Investigator at SENS Research Foundation, Mountain View, California. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the National Chemical Laboratory, India and subsequently had postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers University respectively in mitochondria biology. With over 23 years of experience in this field, she currently heads the MitoSENS program at SENS Research Foundation. Dr. Boominathan and her highly motivated team of researchers are striving to develop and advance technologies to functionally relocate the mtDNA genes to the nucleus. Alternative approaches in rejuvenating mitochondria are also underway in her lab. She is passionate about biomedical research and would like to apply her expertise and experience in finding cures for age-related diseases and mentoring young researchers entering the longevity research space.
