The NAD+ Mouse Project Hits Stretch Goal


We have wonderful news today: the NAD+ Mouse Project has reached the first stretch goal of $45k! This greatly expands the scope of the experiment, which will now include a long-term study of the effects of NMN on aging in regular and ICE mice.

Attaining our first stretch goal will enable us to perform longer term (up to a year) aging reversal studies using NMN. Long-term treatment with NMN in our advanced aging ICE mice and their longer-lived normal control siblings will allow us to perform many additional behavioral and physiological tests. These include tests of memory and cognition to determine the efficacy of NMN in preventing and/or reversing age related cognitive decline. Additional physiological experiments will also assess the longer-term effects of NMN on exercise endurance and preventing and/or reversing overall frailty.
Estimated study duration: ~12 months.

Thanks to the generous support of the community, the team at Havard Medical School will now be able to launch an even more ambitious project focused on exploring the long-term effects of NMN on the aging processes. This is great news for not only building up our knowledge of the compound and its effects on aging; it could also serve as supporting data for its ongoing human trials. Furthermore, this expanded experiment will serve to further test and hopefully validate the use of special, rapidly aging ICE mice as a viable model for aging research; if so, researchers will have a way to get initial results sooner, saving them time and providing earlier leads on promising therapies and compounds that target the aging processes.

We would like to thank everyone who has donated to the project so far. This is another example of what we can do together as a community, and, thanks to you, another aging research project will be launched in the near future. There is a final stretch goal at $60k, which opens up the project into a full lifespan study; with 14 days to go, let’s push hard and see if we can get there!

    It would be very disappointing if after donating money there’s not enough to do a legit lifespan study.
