MouseAge: An AI Beauty Contest in Support of Research Funding

In this video, Anastasia Georgievskaya, the project leader of MouseAge, talks about how science might overcome some of the issues and shortfalls of past attempts to measure beauty and how it relates to aging research.

Anastasia and her team are developing a visual biomarker system that uses AI to determine mouse age without the need for invasive tests and thus could help to improve the lives of research animals worldwide. The techniques being developed for beauty can be also be applied to more serious research, such as that of the MouseAge project, and what we learn from one could be translated to the other via a technique called transfer learning.

And on the subject of beauty, Anastasia also talks about a cool feature of the MouseAge project at Anyone who makes a donation of $25 or more to support the project can have their picture analyzed for beauty by an artificial intelligence!

This is a perfect opportunity to challenge your friends to support as well so you can see who is the fairest of them all!

To enter, all you have to do is contribute and send your HD photograph to [email protected]. Good luck!
