Back Webinar – MitoSENS

Our work is largely supported by the generosity of our monthly patrons, the Lifespan Heroes, and this year, we will be showing our appreciation for that support with the launch of a brand new initiative – our new webinar series where you can meet the scientists working on the solutions to aging and age-related diseases.

Introducing a new webinar series for Lifespan Heroes

As a special thank you to our monthly Patrons – The Lifespan Heroes, we are pleased to announce the launch of a new series of exclusive webinars where you can join researchers live, listen to discussion panels, and take part in Q&A sessions. This is the ideal place to meet the actual scientists working on ending age-related diseases and ask them about their exciting research.

Our first webinar on January 28th at 2:00 pm EST, will be with the MitoSENS team from the SENS Research Foundation in Mountain View, California. Damage to mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is thought to be one of the reasons we age and is a highly challenging problem for science to solve.

SRF is pioneering ways to address the damage done to mtDNA by creating copies of mitochondrial genes and placing them in cellular nuclei, thus protecting these genes from the damage caused by reactive oxygen species, which are a byproduct of mitochondrial metabolism. If they are successful, this opens the door to treating age-related diseases as well as rare inherited mitochondrial disorders.

Join Dr. Aubrey de Grey, Dr. Matthew O’Connor, Michael Rae, and Dr. Amutha Boominathan from the SENS Research Foundation for a 2-hour panel including a question and answers section where you can ask the team about the MitoSENS project. Dr. Oliver Medvedik LEAF Vice President and Director of the Maurice Kanbar center for biomedical engineering will be the host for the event.

As a Hero, you will have the opportunity to join us live for the first of many webinars and have the opportunity to learn about this fascinating aspect of aging research and to gain insight into what goes on in the lab. We’ll email the connection instructions to our Heroes soon, so please check your inbox for our announcement.

If you cannot join us for this webinar, don’t worry; we will be recording all of our webinars and making them available for our Heroes to enjoy a few months prior to public release.

Calling all the Heroes

This year, our plan is to reach out to an even wider audience and engage with them about the need to end age-related diseases. We aim to hire another team member so that we can cover more news stories, buy new equipment, produce more films with popular Youtube channels, launch a two-day conference in NYC, and do more online shows, including this new webinar series.

However, to do this, we need your help.

We are very grateful for the support of our monthly patrons, the Lifespan Heroes, and we are asking you to consider joining them today in order to help us achieve our ambitious goals for 2019.

By becoming a Lifespan Hero, you become a monthly patron and can change or halt your contributions at any time. In return for your support, you get access to the Heroes’ Private Discord channel, enjoy discounts on our event tickets, get early access to conference videos and live access to webinars, and receive regular reports on our progress and future plans.

Please consider becoming a Lifespan Hero today. We look forward to seeing you at the MitoSENS webinar.
