In this presentation given at Ending Age-Related Diseases 2020, Dr. Gordan Lauc of GlycanAge discusses glycans and protein glycosylation, explaining that the glycoproteome is more complex than epigenetics and genetics. He expresses the idea that, as we age, our glycoproteome becomes destabilized and that glycans can be used to return this neglected aspect of aging to a more youthful state. However, as he explains, glycan and glycoproteomic analysis is considerably more difficult than conventional genetic analysis, meaning that significant effort is required in order to properly address this aspect of aging.
